With the festive season well on its way, Large Manchester has put together this Christmas Theatre roundup to keep you informed on the treasures awaiting your viewing!
The Wind in the Willows, The Lowry
Friday 2nd December – Saturday 14th January.
This timeless family classic by Kenneth Grahame has been brought to life on stage by the talented Alan Bennett and promises to be a perfect treat. Join Ratty, Mole, Badger and Toad as they start their adventure along the river bank, travelling to Toad Hall, the open road – and into the dreaded WildWood as they prepare for battle! With a host of well known actors in the mix, Bennett’s humour and elegance makes this adaptation his own whilst sticking to the original story, complete with a dollop of musical numbers! Cinderella, The Opera House

What Christmas season wouldn’t be complete without the festive pantomime! Dirty Dancing, Palace Theatre

In its first ever national tour, Dirty Dancing brings a phenomenal explosion of music and dance to liven up any winter blues. Christmas Events, Bridgewater Hall

The Bridgewater Hall is hosting a variety of Christmas events. To name a few, the Salvation Army’s annual carol concert kicks off events on Tuesday 6th December, and St Ann’s Hospice will also be celebrating a host of Christmas music for all to join in with on Friday 9th December. Alastair Malloy will be presenting a Christmas family concert with the Hallé orchestra on Sunday 11th December, providing sing-alongs as well as a festive quiz! On Monday 12th December, Only Men Allowed will be back as part of their sell-out tour to provide and evening of Christmas music mingled with their latest songs and those favoured classics. The Hallé orchestra will be hosting carol concerts throughout the month, and prepare to step back in time on Thursday 22nd December as ‘Carols by Candlelight’ prepares for Christmas in 18th century costume. You Can’t Take It With You, Royal Exchange Theatre

‘You Can’t Take It With You’ celebrates the joys and quirkiness of family at Christmas in this revival of the 1930’s Broadway hit. This jubilant and witty comedy follows the bohemian Vanderhofs and the conventional Kirbys who have very different attitudes to life. When granddaughter Alice falls for a member of the Kirby family, mayhem ensues… This feel good show will take you back in time as you laugh your way through the Christmas period.
